4 ALS, 3 of them addressed to Eliza Smith, the first from her brother Miles Morris Goodyear in St. Joseph, Missouri dated Jan. 1, 1849. The second is from William B. Goodyear, Jan. 13, 1849, and concerns the California gold discoveries. The third is from Enos Foote, dictated to William Goodyear Mar. 29, 1855 from Benicia, California, and is about the city and its prospects. A fourth letter, to William Goodyear from Andrew Goodyear in Sacramento and dated Dec. 2, 1849 announces the death of their brother Miles.
